Rhion Jones was the Founder of the Consultation Institute and the author – with Elizabeth Gammell – of The Art of Consultation (2008) and The Politics of Consultation (2018), both definitive texts on public and stakeholder consultation. He trained thousands of public engagement professionals in central and local government, the NHS and the planning/infrastructure sectors and became known for thought leadership in the business – with 750+ articles and blogs on the subject over 25 years. He currently provides specialist advice as the Consultation GuRU and has recently published a FOUR FUNCTIONS FRAMEWORK as a radical new way to engage with the public in different scenarios. He welcomes attempts by Ministers to move away from the one-size-fits-all approach to public consultation but fears that there may be unforeseen consequences and political risks if changes are not fully thought-through.Rhion is an experienced chair of industry events and looks forward to a productive and entertaining conference at an important time for the infrastructure industry in the UK.
